The timing of this post is pretty perfect as Matt and I have officially lived together for one year as of yesterday! I remember that day so well (and this post) – I’ve never experienced such bliss while unpacking boxes. We’ve spent the past 12 months making it our home, and even though it’s still somewhat a work in progress, I’ve never loved an apartment more. As I mentioned in Part 1 of our home update, our place is all filled in, but we wanted to swap out a few old things (from past apartments) for new, and restyle a few areas that need some love.
always top off tables with fresh flowers.
Leading up to our couch arriving (end of May – aka Part 3, coming soon!), I felt like I needed some help rearranging some of the things we had and pick out a few more items to complete corners and tabletops with potential. Sometimes having a fresh pair of eyes can make a worlds difference! I decided to work with InteriorCrowd (an amazing interior design service) who helped me create the space I was wanting. I was able to create a vision board to set the bar for my style and preferences, meet with a designer who totally understood my aesthetic (I worked with Susie, who was so lovely and helpful), and from there we worked together to bring our game plan to life. Officially obsessed with the cohesive style that ties each room together perfectly… Success.
These décor accents were recommended by my designer to place on top of my coffee table books, and I love how it turned out! Adding a little character goes a long way, and can bring interesting color and dimension to a space. Also, you can never have enough coffee table books. 🙂
We added this lamp shade above our dining table (was a not-so-pretty glass sconce when we moved in), which completely makes the room feel like new. Our vintage rug we got awhile back from BeHomeCo (that was a bit too wide for our hallway) was moved into our dining room (all Susie…would never have thought to do that!), and I LOVE how it looks. This space is turning out to be my favorite (good thing, because it’s also known as my office most days!). Side note: this rug from BeHomeCo…. OMG… if this is still available in a couple of days, I might have to make that thing mine!
Everything is finally coming together, and I can’t wait to share more in a few weeks once we swap out our couch. The nice thing about InteriorCrowd, if you happen to be looking for some help like I was, they work with you how ever it makes the most sense for you. They can help with small tasks like restyling a room and giving advice on what’s missing, or can help with larger scale interior design services and are there for you throughout the entire process. Although I tend to think I’m a professional decorator, I’m certainly not, so having someone who gets it come in to help me is just what I needed. So thank you, Susie for the help – Matt and I are loving the results!
A few of my tips: for amazing prints I go to Minted // for home goods like sheets and dishware I recently discovered Snowe and am obsessed (more on that soon) // and another new favorite which I’ve mentioned for tabletop and bar decor, I love The Coconut Room!
