Each December we throw an annual White Elephant party. Matt has been hosting this shindig for eight years, so the role was inherited to me as co-host the past two. It’s an evening we always look forward to in December! I have to say, I think I helped stoke a shift in the niceness of gifts (last year we were so surprised that the joke gifts only landed in a few laps… mine included – but I will get to that in a moment). The best part about White Elephant gifts is you will probably end up buying the most random thing you’ve purchased. It’s also nice because there’s no pressure or thinking that has to go into it– you just show up to the store and all is fair game.
I teamed up with World Market to highlight a few ideas for those upcoming parties (they actually have a White Elephant gift guide, too!) for something silly and something nice– like this Friday Night wine glass (that holds a whole bottle – joke gift or not? I’ll leave it up to you to decide.).
I’m hoping for the best this year since last time I ended up with a SACK of potatoes and a microwavable potato manual. Where does one even find this manual!? Ha! Here’s to hoping I’m not jinxing myself right now. There’s another post coming soon highlighting the party this year. In the meantime, here are my favorite White Elephant gifts…
Something Nice Gold Rim Tumblers | Salad Serving Utensils | Spanish Cheese Selection | Throw Blanket
Something Sweet Toblerone Bar | TCHO Dark Chocolate Bar | Pocky Sticks | Hazelnut Wafers
Something Silly Brown Bag for Wine | Wine Bottle Holiday Sweaters | Friday Night Wine Glass
Something to Sip Veuve Champagne | Champagne Glasses | Bad Elf Beer
A Few More Ideas
