My very neutral-based living room vision board is finally coming to life – one UPS doorbell ding at a time. Our rug made its way to us first (I ended up going with #3 from this post), and the new look we have going is already a breath of fresh air. Our vintage Moroccan shag is sprawl-out-on-the-floor worthy – even Matt’s jaw slightly dropped as we untied and unrolled, it’s a beauty. Our couch should be arriving end of May but wanted to give you a glance at the updates so far.
AESTHETIC: ECLECTIC • MODERN • GROUNDED
The goal of swapping out our couch and rug, the two biggest changes we want to make, is to bring in more masculine tones and textures – which will ground the room a bit more, yet keep the warm and inviting vibe alive (looking at you, neutrals). The rich cognac leather piece will add decadence and dimension, and its mid-century design will bring some modern into our lives. Our feet are big fans of Moroccan rugs – this simple piece won us over, and the comfort factor is beyond any other rug I’ve met.
I’m also in the process of working with InteriorCrowd who is helping me finalize a few details, like decor styling, selecting a couple of light fixtures for our living room and dining room, and a few things to fill in some blank space. The image above is my designer’s vision of our TV wall, it needs work, as I’m sure you’ve noticed it’s very rarely captured. I’m guessing that will change soon! More updates in the near future (this may be part 1 of 3… lots to do).
This revamp has me thinking about painting a black accent wall behind our bed. I did this 4 years ago in an old apartment when I first got my gray suede headboard and it looked so sharp. More to come on that soon as I devise a plan of convincing Matt.
What are your thoughts on the rug? Do you like? I hope you’re enjoying your week so far!
