Visiting such an extraordinary place like Lake Tahoe means breathing in the freshest air, sitting lakeside in a postcard-like setting, and treating oneself amidst a true summer day (aka a piña colada from Ski Beach Tiki Hut). I can’t help but arrive with wonder and anticipation for the inspiration that comes with little retreats like this, and you bet your bottom dollar that I’m fully equipped with cameras in tow to take it all in! Waking up early in the morning or catching the light of sunset reassures me why I absolutely adore this place.
Our week was nothing short of perfect. BBQ-filled, sunshine aplenty, lakeside lays, and glasses of wine on the deck. It was the first week-long trip we’ve had this year, and it felt incredible to semi-disconnect from work and just breeze through the day and relax. I slept in more than I ever do, wore the coziest casual clothes, and spent time with family. I’m probably the tannest I will be all year – so for that too, I’m happy as a clam!
One evening we drove a few minutes out to this stunning lookout and snapped a few shots before heading closer to the lake. I felt like I was popping right out of a painting – the verdant hills, and lush blue water gives me goosebumps every time. The views, smells, and feelings that rush through you in Tahoe are beyond words. Matt’s such a trooper (and so patient) with my constant vision wheels turning in the back of my mind. Always looking to chase golden hour for the perfect shot – he’s even picked up some skills himself along the way and captured me drooling over this view. How could you not!
I usually pack pretty lightly when visiting Tahoe and bring my casual best. I reach for simple pieces to mix and match, or easy throw-ons like this black romper from Old Navy and lightweight dresses to wear for daytime exploring to evening dinners by the lake. This romper is so cute and comfy, I’ve been a repeat offender throwing it on all week long. I love pieces like this where I can easily slip it on and pair it with a simple sandal, a denim button up (just in case it got breezy), and a fun summer bag.
After spending a week up there, I feel so refreshed and inspired – a necessary trip to decompress and take a break from the laptop! A few more photos to come next week, but couldn’t wait to share these beautiful views with you. I’d love to know where your happy place is? Where do you go to escape the norm and reboot? Let me know in the comments below and have yourself a wonderful weekend! x
