What does a typical day look like for you?
With a full-time job, I’m usually going into the office! I get up around 7, get ready for the work day, hop on the metro in DC, and spend the next 8 hours in my office working with my team. Afterwards, I’ll usually try to get to happy hour  with friends or head home and work out. Then I spend the rest of night working on blog posts or pulling inspiration for content..meaning, I’m on Pinterest, Tumblr, or browsing my favorite blogs and reads for hours and hours. Essentially, I have two jobs. I’m definitely a night owl, so I usually don’t get to bed until around 12am! Mondays and Fridays, I get to work from home, so I’m usually in my loungewear and working from a cafe in Georgetown.

Lightbulb moment that navigated you to where you are now.
I’m not even sure if I’ve had that lightbulb moment yet!! There was definitely a point after graduating in 2012 when I realized that I wasn’t doing exactly what I wanted to do. There was no creativity in my life. So that’s when I started my blog! I figured if I wasn’t doing what I loved every day in the office, then why not start pursuing my passion outside of it! Good thing is that I’ve found a great project where I’m able to merge my creative fix and love of social media and graphic design with my work as a consultant. I know I’m not exactly where I want to be. As my blogging continues, I’ve realized a major passion for a world of styling, decorating, cooking, traveling, and more…I think I’ll have many jobs in my future! I’m excited to see where life takes me and what opportunities may pop up because of my curated content and my blog.

Where do you live?
Washington, DC

A perfect weekend looks something like this…
Sleeping in, going to brunch with friends, spending time at a new museum exhibit, doing a little shopping in Georgetown, snagging drinks at the waterfront and watching the yachts and people pass by, picking up District Taco or a pizza, then heading home to Netflix binge on the couch OR getting dressed up for a night out in the city with good company and dancing the night away. If there’s one happening, I also love catching a free outdoor movie event with friends.

Where are the best places to shop?
Georgetown is the motherlode for all shopping needs, it’s the cutest little area to walk around, drool over the houses, eat, and shop, and basically has every major shop you can think of. On top of that, head to Salt & Sundry for a local DC shop experience..it’s my favorite!

Top 3 favorite dinner spots.
Founding Farmers, Rose’s Luxury, and Fiola Mare

Top 3 favorite lunch spots.
Union Market (amazing food market), anywhere at Georgetown Waterfront (I prefer Sequoia), and Le Diplomate

Best cocktails with friends.

Wine bar you can’t miss.
Iron Gate

Favorite workout / must try for out of towners.
November Project – early early AM workouts with a group that meets on the National Mall..get a running tour of the monuments and museums with the beautiful sunrise FOR FREE!

Noteworthy coffee shop.
Baked and Wired, especially if you’re craving a delicious treat or Northside Social..because it’s also a wine bar

Prettiest view.
Top of the stairs at the Lincoln Memorial, looking down across the reflecting pool and Washington Monument, or better yet..top of the Washington Monument (especially at night)! Also…top of the W Hotel at POV Rooftop Lounge

Favorite thing about where you live.
You can do SO many things for free, including group workouts, museums, monuments, festivals, Great Falls, outdoor markets, exploring the waterfronts and National Mall or the many parks. I can go entire weekends without spending money exploring the city if I wanted to!

Thank you for taking the time to be apart of Live Like a Local, Nat! xx

Natalie’s blog is one I visit on a weekly basis–a visual diary of effortless styling, surf culture, and eclectic finds for the modern bohemian. It feels like a little retreat clicking through her pages of thoughtfully curated collections of her favorite covets from around the web. Her dreamy laidback style will have you adding many things to your own wish list. She actually featured me on her site recently, which was such a treat! I love the story she tells and the world through her lens, and now after reading up on her favorite spots, I can’t wait to visit DC at some point.

Happy Friday, friends! I hope you have a wonderful weekend, see you next week on here! xx
