You know when you’re going through something, but you’re not quite sure what that something is? Changes are happening within you, it’s very clear, but you have no idea how to interpret. This was in the back of my mind for the last couple of months. It wasn’t clear until yesterday when I stumbled upon Leandra Medine’s most recent podcast episode, Outgrowing Your Identity. She read my mind. It was one of those bizarre life moments when you relate to something so deeply and you had no idea it was coming. I pressed play for entertainment while working and ended up mesmerized by her words because our thoughts were so parallel.
Maybe it’s because I’m in the final stretch of my twenties and I’m growing in new ways? Or maybe life lately has felt very one-note and I’m needing more color? Whatever it may be, it’s not a bad thing at all. It feels very pivotal. I’m not afraid of it, stressed out by it, or confused; I actually feel very content. (Am I making sense?)
The whole simplify phase I’m going through (have mentioned this a few times recently) is one of the new changes I see in myself. My interests, goals, style, and attitude are following suit–catching my own evolution as it’s happening. I’m even viewing my relationships differently. It’s crazy that so much is clear to me all at once. Quite the existential epiphany! After listening to the podcast for a second time because I was just so surprised by the impact it had on me, I felt ineffably eager to run with it.
I spent all last night brainstorming ways to move in a direction that feels right. I decided to start with my blog and rework the structure a bit (closet and home are in the works, too). I think one of the most profound internal changes going on is what propels me forward. I’m a creative type, visual, always craving to feel inspired. I I have to move with what’s moving me versus sticking to routine. What I’m passionate about now, is different than what I was passionate about a year ago. I feel so much freer having realized this. I feel like a new woman… a blank canvas. And you know how much I love those. I’m excited about this!
If you’re still here, thanks for reading my novel. 🙂 Hopefully, you could make some sense of it! I wanted to share because it amazes me how simply relating to something sheds light on so much sometimes. If you’re feeling like you’re outgrowing your current stance in life/job/passions then you understand. I’m just trying to get to know myself better and work things out, and it feels so good to hash it out on here. I hope this helps someone out there who may have gone through the same weird “what is going on with me” moment.
So, after a deep dive into the wee hours of the night here’s what’s new around here. We have a brand new series, a couple of new categories, and I’ve restructured everything to be a little more niché. I want to be excited to write and share and not feel like I’m doing it just to do it. So here’s to personal evolution, good change, and allowing Brunch on Chestnut to grow with me.
Roundown of the *new*…

Found* new series!
Emerging brands and unique things that I love. I don’t know if you know this about me, but I used to be a stylist early on in my career. I love the thrill of the hunt and finding new pieces I’ve never seen or brands that are up-and-coming. I want to be a source for you to discover these gems as well! I want my closet to entail unique vintage finds, never-before-seen things. I want to diversify myself and style again. I want to be more adventurous, fun and own pieces that mean something special. Since this is brand new, expect to see a few new posts adding to this tab in the next week. I have some amazing companies to show you.
On The List
This one is sticking around. Here you will find roundups of items I love or spotlights on unique things I need.
Trend talk. Each season there are pieces you must have in your wardrobe, so this is where I’ll share my two cents on what to invest in, experiment with, and how to wear it.

Art* new category!
For the first time in my life, I’m feeling so inspired by art. I’m driven to revamp what we hang on our walls from cute prints found online throughout my twenties to essential pieces that speak to us a bit more. I’ve started to collect souvenirs from travels, vintage photographs from fleas, and have begun to bookmark artists I adore and hope to bring home a piece from their collection at some point. I’m excited to share these discoveries with you along the way!
All of the amazing home tours I find will live here and roundups of products I’m loving.
Home updates here, progress posts, before and afters, DIY’s, and more.

Skipping Living because those stayed the same! As for the new Culture category, you can expect to see news, reviews, and opinions. Movies, shows, books, etc. I’m also planning a new Interview series about inspiring women and their careers, what inspires them, etc. More stuff for us to discuss!
Lastly, I’ve mentioned this recently, but I’m really making Pinterest a priority again. When I decide to spend time on social (the new me prefers less than more each day these days), I want it to be collecting and sharing inspiration here, so follow along if you aren’t already. I’ve added a ton lately! x
