Visual Diary: Solage Calistoga Resort & Spa

  /
12 April

This was a fantastic trip. A much needed weekend escape, and although the forecast wasn’t as much in our favor as I had hoped – it was kind of nice to have peaceful rain as the weekend background. We drove up to Calistoga late Friday afternoon and arrived in time to explore the property with wine in hand, and since the rain hadn’t arrived yet, we were able to capture some of Solage’s beauty.

Solage Calistoga

I must come back over summertime, I could spend hours by this little sanctuary of a pool.

The spa was the most whimsical and peaceful one I’ve ever seen. The quiet and serene surrounding and the light jazz playing in the background took a few minutes to soak in before moving on to the next sight to see…

Solbar is the onsight restaurant located in the middle of the property. The patio is beyond picturesque – overlooking the pool, covered in green lush trees draped in twinkle lights, and a fire pit warming up the scene. We went for a snack before our dinner reservation on Friday and then came back on Saturday night for Dinner. Both times were delicious and I highly recommend visiting. Dinner especially stood out, our meal was incredible – Hawaiian Hamachi (drool-worthy), Spring Vegetable Chop Salad, Housemade Ricotta and Kale Agnolotti, and the Halibut special. The service, ambiance, and all of our dishes were all great and then some.

On Saturday, we took a drive down the road to this beautiful building that caught our eye. It’s a newer winery/tasting room located a few minutes from Solage, called Brian Arden Wines. We were greeted with the owner’s golden retriever (won us over pretty quickly!) and a delicious flight with a view from behind the floor to ceiling windows overlooking the property. We ended up moving outside since the cozy patio called our names while the rain started to slowly drizzle down. Side note: noticing now more than ever how many places we go are dog-friendly… adding on to my anticipation.

Brian Arden Winery

It’s a family owned winery (father, son, and wife team), and a sweet and enthusiastic staff. It was almost like we were at a friends house enjoying some vino and playing with adorable pups. We had a great time – would definitely recommend checking it out if you’re in the area. They are opening a kitchen for small bites this fall as well!

Already missing that pool view and these lemon ricotta pancakes (with blueberry syrup and roasted pine nuts) – Can’t wait to make a visit again in the future. Hope you had a great weekend! xx

The wine, pool and breakfast in bed look like heaven. Could there be a more photogenic place on earth? Love the white on white interiors too. If I’m ever in California I’m SO booking in at this place. What a lucky girl x
