Style Notes: Alicia Lund

14 March

Well, hi! It’s been a minute since I posted, but it’s been busy over here. I’ve put a little too much on my plate, so as I promised myself this year, I needed to take a step back and focus on clearing it a bit before adding more. And all the birthday celebrating and now planning our move! Still playing some catch-up, but I have some good posts coming up so hold tight.

To make up for my blog radio silence this past week, I’m very excited to share a brand new series I’ve been dreaming up, Style Notes. I’ve been brainstorming this idea for awhile to spotlight and introduce you to women (and closets) who inspire me. A new and refreshing way for us all to discover new style blogs, designers, styling tricks, and more.

I’m kicking things off with someone whose style I really admire, Alicia Lund of Cheetah is the New Black. CITNB is one of the very few blogs I keep up with, such a good one. We share a love for brands like Ulla Johnson and Isabel Marant, and I just adore how she grounds her outfits with a tomboy touch. I’m sure most of you know of her yourself and also envy her captivatingly cool and effortless style. Her jacket and sweater collection particularly pull at my heartstrings weekly. She certainly has a knack for hunting down incredible statement pieces that have a special uniqueness to them and has mastered mixing things up and juxtaposing feminine details with an edge.

Her style always surprises me in the best ways. The full interview with Alicia below!

Describe your style in 3 words:

Classic and feminine with an Edge. A little bohemian and a little tomboy. (Sorry so not 3 words!)

What’s one thing in your closet you love right now?

A studded IRO leather jacket (see below). Makes everything effortlessly cooler.

Which brands are you obsessed with at the moment and why?

Gucci! I wouldn’t wear everything but creatively, Alessandro Michele is so inspiring! Isabel Marant and Ulla Johnson speak to my bohemian heart… but Isabel Marant also has that slight tomboy/edge that I also love. IRO for edgier pieces and leather. Doen the Los Angeles brand–love their whole vibe and aesthetic. It’s probably the brand I purchase the most from. I live in Re/Done and Citizen of Humanity jeans. I also love Rachel Comey, oh and Freda Salvador for rad boots.

What are 3 things in your closet you’d never part with?

An Isabel Marant floral maxi dress, my IRO leather jacket, my denim collection.

{ Pop of } color of choice?

Currently red or pink. But usually the most colorful I get is typically olive green. I live in neutrals.

Who are your top 3 style icons?

I look more to the designers than people… but I really love and appreciate cool individual style. I always wanna see what Sienna Miller is wearing… but maybe that’s more girl crush? 😉

What is your golden rule with personal style?

Wear what makes you feel your best. (I also have to be comfortable.)
